Color Laser Printer Comparison: Dell 5130cdn VS Brother HL-4570CDW VS HP Color LaserJet CP4025dn

Dell 5130Cdn

This printer is definitely designed for a medium to large workgroup since it’s pretty massive and very heavy duty. Weighing in a 99 pounds and with dimensions of 22.1” x 20.0” x 17.0” it is absolutely a contender in this match. It’s also extremely fast– especially in comparison to the other two. It prints at a speedy 47 pages per minute and still maintains about 37 pagers per minute even when using its automatic two-sided printing duplexer that some standard on the Dell 5130cdn. Even with the fast speeds, this printer offers 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution giving you clear and crisp prints while maintaining an environmentally conscious design. Dell also has recycling programs for used Dell toner cartridges and includes power saving technology.

This printer is awesomely fast, but if you want the most of out it, upgrades are going to be necessary. Wireless does not come standard and must be purchased in order to have cordless capabilities. This unit only comes standard with an input tray for about 150 sheets—not very much. You can upgrade this tiny number thought to an impressive 2900-sheet combination of trays. Standard memory is decent at 256 MB but you are going to want to yet again make the upgrade to the available 1024MB. To its fault, the Dell 5130cdn is only compatible with Windows and Linux and not with Mac.

Brother HL-4570CDW

This candidate, weighing in at 46.3 pounds and measuring at 16.1″ x 19.1″ x 12.3″is ideal for small businesses or workgroups. Our favorite features include the automatic duplex printing and built in wireless capabilities. Brother even has a free app for wireless printing directly from your smart phone. While this printer is not specifically built for saving the environment, using high-capacity Brother toner cartridges can save you time, money, and help to produce less waste. This printer is compatible for Windows and Mac operating systems.

While not as fast as the Dell, the Brother HL-4570CDW prints at a still fast 30 pages per minute with its first page out in 16 seconds. You will be guaranteed fairly decent prints as well with up to 2400 x 600 dpi resolution. Memory is low compared to the others, with only 128 MB upgradable to a maximum of 256MB, and a slightly higher input capacity with 250-sheets standard, expandable to 800 sheets.

HP Color LaserJet CP4025dn

Our final fighter, HP Color LaserJet CP4025dn, weighing in at 86.4 lbs and measuring at 21.3 x 20.6 x 16.5 in is a force to be reckoned with. Made for small to medium workgroups it also maintains built in duplex printing. Printing at a middle ground speed of 35 pages per minute, and having the first page out at 9.5 seconds gives it a completive edge. Its memory wins this fight with standard 512MB of memory and still expandable to 1G. HP ImageREt 3600 technology for resolution pledges sharp vivid prints and can operate on Windows or Mac operating systems. Its environmentally conscious design has recycling programs, power saving technology and uses Colorsphere HP toners, which prove superior to others out there.

The HP Color LaserJet CP4025dn doesn’t have many faults, but one is the minimal 100-sheet standard input tray. However, you can expand it up to 600 pages and it does have a standard 500-sheet output bin allowing for bigger projects without the necessity of user interruption. Wireless isn’t an option either with this printer and you will have to stick with the Ethernet connection available.

And The Winner Is…

The HP Color LaserJet CP4025dn – Big, bold and beautiful, this printer has what you need without having to spend a ton of money on upgrades to bring it up to par. Quick speeds, excellent prints, and a money saving design makes this HP the clear winner.
